Well, where do we begin?....We have been handed a trial in our family. We have received the news that Brian has a metastatic embroynal tumor (cancer) in his pelvis and abdomen. Surgery was performed last week and most of it was removed. His recent CT scans show signs in his lymph nodes in his abdomen. A second surgery might be scheduled next month that will keep him down for 6 weeks. If surgery goes well, we are possibly done. If they can’t get it all, and a PET scan shows residual disease, chemotherapy will be required when he has recovered from surgery.
At this time we are literally praying for a miracle that the next surgery will get all of it. We could really use your prayers for the next few months to help us get through this with a favorable outcome.
We appreciate your thoughts and concerns, but right now life is very overwhelming and it is hard to answer every phone call. You are welcome to leave messages, or even better, emails! studio_m@q.com We will be using our blog to keep people updated on our life right now:
www.picture-me-crazy.blogspot.com Most of the questions that you would have and the things that we are comfortable talking about will be posted on our blog. When you do see us, feel free to talk to us about normal things because it’s hard for us to maintain composure talking about it all the time.
As much as this is a big part of our life right now, we are trying to focus on keeping life as normal as possible for ourselves and our children. We are learning to take this one day at a time so we don’t go completely insane.
At this time we aren’t exactly sure what help we need, however, once surgery is performed and/or chemotherapy begins I’m sure that I would appreciate help with….. something!
Brian, of course, is anxious to be running again as soon as possible and asks almost every doctor we see when they think he can run his next race! Of course, the answer is… we’ll see!
Thank you for your help, concern and prayers! Brian and Melanie
